The Hut Appeal:
We have been offered the opportunity to purchase The Hut Dojo and the land on which it stands and we are conducting an appeal for funds to preserve this historic building which is of great importance to Aikido as it was the first place in which our Martial Art was taught in the UK, by Abbe Sensei in the 1950s.

The Hut Dojo - Uxbridge, Middlesex:

At the Hut Dojo your first Aikido lesson is FREE

Come and learn this defensive Martial Art in the dojo where Aikido was first taught in the UK in the early 1950s. Based on the principal of using your opponent’s strength against him, Aikido is ideal for both sexes from the age of 8 upwards and you can continue training in your 70s!

The Hut Dojo - Chief Instructor:
Sensei Paul Foster-Dent (5th Dan), grandson of Sensei Foster.

The Hut Dojo is the Headquarters of the Institute of Aikido, which has affiliated clubs throughout the world.

Aikido is a Japanese defensive martial art based on throws and immobilisation techniques. The Hut Aikido Club is proud of its long tradition of teaching Aikido, having been in continuous existence since the 1950s. The Hut Dojo was the place where Abbe Sensei first taught Aikido in the UK.

The Dojo is permanently matted (no need to lay the mats or lift them up at the end of the session!) with 36 tatami.

The Hut Dojo is situated near Hillingdon Hospital, behind the The Hut public house in Old Orchard Road, Uxbridge, Middx. UB8 3LH. Walk through the pub’s car park, turn left through the garden and the Dojo is the long low building in front of you.

Institute of Aikido, Sensei Foster,
